I spent an incredible week at the 44th annual Society of Business Editors and Writers in Anaheim, Calif. I met reporters, editors and publishers from the nation's top business journals and daily papers.

Attendees learned how to interview like an FBI agent, transition from print to Web coverage and played ethics Jeopardy between trips to Disneyland.

Next year's conference will be closer to home in Baltimore.

I spent the day at the CBMM where I toured a light house, a replica of a boat used by John Smith to explore Chesapeak Bay and a boat yard.

I also learned how to peel and eat fresh crab at St. Michaels' best crab shack.

I enjoyed this nation's independance by visiting Baker Park in Frederick.

Two other News-Post reporters joined me as did several of our friends. What better way to enjoy a fireworks display than to drink a few beers?

I spent the afternoon at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington D.C. Just look at that smile!

Sweat dripped down everyone's brow as they found refuge in the many museum-like buildings. The heat chased many animals into off-exhibit areas.

The C. Burr Artz Public Library has a great view of the down town portion of the Carroll Creek Park Project. It has been under construction for more than 20 years and is based on the San Antonio River Walk.

Its primary function is as a drainage canal. A flood in the 1980s caused millions in damage to downtown Frederick. The project features a walk way and an outdoor theater (like Arneson Theater at La Villita).

I gorged myself on hotdogs, potato salad, cole slaw and ice cream at The Frederick News-Post company picnic at Harry Grove Stadium.

The Potomac Nationals crushed the Frederick Keys, scoring 10 runs in the 5th inning for a final 22-6... Ouch!
