Introduction to Color
(8 hours)

Course Description
This course will provide an introduction to basic color theory for design. You will learn about color terminology, the 11 basic colors in the color wheel and the hidden meaning behind each color. You will learn the basic concepts about color harmony, how to choose colors and how to use color combinations for creative effect. Prerequisites: No prior classes required. (Text is included with course fee)

Performance-Based Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

· Identify and use basic color theory terminology
· Understand how to use the color wheel
· Understand the basic meaning of various colors
· Examine how to achieve mood with color schemes
· Effectively choose colors for use in design
· Use two, three and four color combinations for creative effect
· Understand the difference between various color models
